Boule Diagnostics signs agreement with Karolinska University Laboratory for clinical collaboration in the development of hematology systems

Boule has signed an agreement with Karolinska University Laboratory, Clinical Chemistry, for collaboration on system validation and product development in hematology. Boule owns all rights to the data generated by the project.

“There is a constant need to challenge our systems with particularly difficult patient samples to ensure that the system is capturing those, as well as confirming that the performance and handling of results match the needs further up the care chain. Karolinska University Laboratory has extensive knowledge of hematological blood analysis and is a very attractive partner to work with for the development of future products,” said Ernst Westman, president and CEO of Boule Diagnostics AB.

Boule has established itself as a leading developer and supplier of blood cell counting on a growing global market and is represented by distributors in more than 100 countries. Boule’s systems for blood cell counting are used in small and medium-sized hospitals, clinics and laboratories in an outpatient setting and serves as a screening before the patients with confirmed irregular test results and possible pathological blood picture are passed on to specialized diagnosis and care.

About Karolinska University Laboratory, Clinical Chemistry

The Clinical Chemistry Laboratory operates round-the-clock laboratories at Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge and Solna, Stockholm South General Hospital, Danderyd Hospital, Södertälje Hospital and Norrtälje Hospital. The clinic provides these hospitals and large parts of Stockholm County Council’s primary care with clinical chemical analyses of both emergency and elective nature.

As part of a university laboratory, the clinic also has a mission to, in collaboration with the Karolinska Institute, conduct training, development and research with other actors. Key research areas are coagulopathies, metabolic disorders and hematology. The Hematology Department is responsible for instrumentation, methods and procedures.
